Egerton PC is not a landlord for housing but has worked with Ashford Borough Council (ABC) and other organisations to help identify local social housing needs and suitable housing sites. The latest development, in Chantlers Meadow, Egerton Forstal, was built by English Rural Housing website http://www.englishrural.org.uk in 2011. These homes are for local people who meet the criteria for Egerton residency AND meet the criteria for ABC’s Housing register. Other social/affordable housing is provided by Sanctuary Housing in Harmer’s Way, and Council housing is in Elm Close (haven bungalows), New Road, Crockenhill and Forstal Villas. In the case of the ABC-owned properties, the Egerton residency criteria are less strict: ABC only aims for 50% occupation by existing Egerton residents. The haven bungalows in Elm Close are for people eligible to be on the housing resister and over age 55. The priority is for Egerton residents but the timing of villagers’ needs does not always coincide with vacant properties. Anyone wishing to be considered for any of the properties must be registered with ABC at the outset. Call 01233 330 688 and also view the link here for details. ABC’s guidance note is at egertonpc/UserFiles/file/Affordable%20Rural%20Local%20Needs%20Housing_Oct%2010%20amended.pdf In the case of Sanctuary Housing in Harmer’s Way and the new Forstal Road homes, additional Egerton residency criteria must also be met. Two of the homes in Chantlers Meadow are for joint ownership arrangements.
An independent Housing Association, Egerton Housing Association, manages and lets properties at the Good Intent Cottages, Stonebridge Green, for people with Egerton connections. Separate rules apply.
